Who We Are

For over 18 years, one of Babies and Moms' (BAM) founders, Sheila Dukas-Janakos, has reached out to the local San Francisco Bay Area community, providing inpatient and outpatient board certified lactation services, hard-to-find products, and other specialized breastfeeding and baby care services.  Still, she wanted to do more.

Babies and Moms started out as an idea to reach out to more people, however, there were other factors that weighed in upon the decision to do something about it.  Imagine...

No more:

• Shopping the internet for products, only to find they have to be purchased at multiple sites, or worse, nowhere to be found

• Missing educational classes you require during specified times, because you are bedridden or working

• Around the clock phone calls searching for the answers to questions not easily accessible, nor in a singly accessible location

• Suffering from postpartum depression as a result of a lack of access to help and a lack of acquaintances to discuss the issues

• Feeling alone  

BAM will do more by setting out to become the most-updated, state-of-the-art website available for you.  We will become your one-stop-shop for all your needs.  Health information, online breastfeeding and support classes, an up-all-night chat room for those parents (Moms & Dads) that aren't catching any sleep, and access to the best common and hard-to-get products for you (the parents) and your baby.  We will offer you opportunities to shop online, informative articles about what to expect and how to deal with the issues surrounding breastfeeding and raising healthy children, interactive surveys with current results, and entertainment to help you zone out for awhile.

While most sites fade away once they've lost your interest, we will make the site more interesting as time passes, giving you a reason to come back.  The site will be updated frequently with articles from leading authorities in their field.  BAM will have live-chat speakers to answer your tough questions during interactive classes.  And if you miss the live events, there's no need to worry.  We'll have them recorded for you to view at your own leisure as your schedule permits.
